How you can help

We would like your help...

Patients at State hospitals and clinics in South Africa are typically destitute, malnourished, as well as being very sick or injured. Many are jobless, many are homeless, and many have no loved-ones to provide the basic needs for them in hospital.

The Ruth Mailbag Group strives to provide for the needs of destitute moms and babies in the maternity and NICU of our local state hospital and several other hospitals in our country who have asked for our help by providing them with a basic baby pack for their new and or sick babies.

If you can assist please get in touch with us through joy.coetzee@gmail.com or visit our blog at http://theruthmailbaggroup.blogspot.com/ for more information.

Yours sincerely,
Joy Coetzee

This was so good to receive, as it isn’t often that we are thanked for the work we do for the community, I do find these little messages very encouraging and I’m sure you do, too.
GIFTING

Gifting continues and is great fun; 97 baby packs were delivered this past month.  The nursery is in a temporary facility while alterations are being done to ward 10, I had to search for the door to ward 10 when I visited yesterday, but I did find it and I did visit with the moms. Any improvement has got to be good for this hospital and its patients and should be welcomed with open arms. I am sure that it is currently very difficult for the staff but will also be to their benefit in the long term. Thank you to all who made these packages possible, your support is much appreciated.
The Purple Hat Project continues and every baby gifted was given a purple hat and an information sheet for mom... this project will continue until we have distributed each and every purple hat you have so lovingly made. Bless you and thank you for supporting this very worthy cause.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
God bless,

Acknowledging nurses

In the spirit of Christmas, (Christmas spirit is about giving thanks, helping others and acknowledging those who have made a difference in our lives. And there is nothing wrong in doing this with a gift), The Ruth Mailbag Group wish to acknowledge the important contributions to care being made by nurses serving in our local maternity ward at the state hospital.

Our group is assembling care packages from items donated e.g. journals, toiletries, easy-to-carry snacks/sweets, slippers, comfort scarves, Santa hats, magazines, etc.

The Ruth Mailbag Group is proud to support nurses in ward 10, and want to let them know that the community is grateful for their service.

By giving the care packages, we want to show support for those nurses who are serving moms and babies. We want them to know that we appreciate their efforts and we are thankful for their service.

We hope with this project to raise awareness of the value of nursing and to recognize the important contributions nurses make to healthcare and in our case the new moms and their babies.

Please send donations to: The Ruth Mailbag Group, “For Charity – NO Retail Value”, C/o Foto First, 180 Murchison Street, Ladysmith 3370, South Africa.

~ Such A Loving Nurse ~
I don't often tell you how much I appreciate and admire you-
Sometimes it's difficult to express those feelings, simply because they are so strong.

But today, I want you to know how special I think you are.
You are so unselfish and giving and I know that you must be
the kindest most loving Nurse that anyone could ever hope for!

God Bless You For All The Loving Things You Do
